A Note from Cale Clinton

Hello there. My name is  Cale Clinton, and welcome to Behind Enemy Lines.First off, just wanted to say thanks for reading. This is going to be my attempt to showcase my passion and love for the world of sports, and I appreciate you taking the time to do so. To tell you guys a little about myself, I’m currently a sophomore in college up in Massachusetts, but I hail from Long Island. I’ve lived on Long Island my entire life, surrounded by Derek Jeter worshippers, Giants fanatics, and the most depressed, frustrated fan bases you’ll ever see (Jets, Mets, and Knicks fans). I, however, was raised differently.

My dad grew up in suburban Massachusetts and indoctrinated me early on into the world of Boston sports. When he had first done so, Boston sports were nothing special. The Red Sox had just acquired Jason Varitek and Pedro Martinez, but were still very much unproven. The Celtics had just drafted Paul Pierce. The Bruins had missed the playoffs for the first time in 30 years. The Patriots were being led to pretty average records. There wasn’t much to be excited about at the time, and my dad didn’t exactly feel it necessary to make me a Boston fan. But, lucky me, I don’t remember the days of Boston mediocrity. MY first sports memories were watching a young quarterback out of Michigan step up off the bench and lead his team to three of the next four Super Bowls, and seeing a bearded, Jesus-like figure blast a ball over the Green Monster into the October night, erasing a 3-0 game deficit to the archrival Yankees and eventually shattering a World Series curse that had plagued the city of Boston for over 85 years.

Since then Boston has been a city of excellence. 9 championships have come to the city in the 21st century, and in that time the already loud stadium roars at Fenway and the  Garden have grown to a fever pitch. Being a New Yorker by the circumstances of my location, it’s been tough not being in the heart of it all, but I’m scouring the Internet, looking for any bit of information I can get. From Belichick to Brad Stevens, from Marchand to Mookie Betts, I hope to bring you all my takes on everything Boston.*

*and maybe gaming and music too. This is a résumé builder for journalism, don’t want to back myself into too big of a niche, here.
